Unique pieces for industrial applications

The Dresden High Magnetic Field Laboratory (HLD) at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf is also available to external scientists as a user facility. It enables experiments in the highest pulsed magnetic fields of up to 90 Tesla. In the HLD workshop, resilient pulsed field magnetic coils are designed and manufactured to meet the highest demands. We offer this cutting-edge technology for generating high pulsed magnetic fields as individual one-off productions for industrial applications such as B. electromagnetic forming, joining and welding as well as for medical technology.

We develop cutting-edge technology for the generation of high pulsed magnetic fields. We implement pulse current systems with maximum currents in the mega amp range and resilient pulse field solenoids for the highest demands. These technological activities, which also use modern simulation methods based on the finite elements, are provided for industrial applications such as electromagnetic forming, joining and welding as well as for medical technology.

The experienced scientists of the High Magnetic Field Laboratory Dresden, Dr. Thomas Herrmannsdörfer and Dr. Sergei Zherlitsyn, can advise you with their expertise in the field of high magnetic fields and magnetic technology.

Science in high magnetic fields

The Dresden High Magnetic Field Laboratory (Hochfeld-Magnetlabor Dresden, HLD, Germany) focuses on modern materials research in high magnetic fields. In the HLD, the world’s largest capacitor bank produces electrical pulses in the order of several hundred thousand amperes with tremendous power output. The results are Europe’s highest magnetic fields — a perfect setting for research on new materials, such as superconductors and novel magnets. Researchers at the HLD explore the fundamental properties of these materials, so that they can be optimised for future application. Find out more about the HLD.
